Street Fighter V had a rocky start, but it’s now running at full speed. After the well-received Arcade Mode, you’d think Capcom would stop supporting the title. However, that isn’t the case. New characters are coming throughout the year, and today, one of the biggest was announced. As you can see from the headline, it’s none other than everyone’s favorite green-skinned man-monster, Blanka.
Blanka first appeared in Street Fighter II. He survived a plane crash over the Amazon and learned to fight like jungle creatures. He became a favorite thanks to his savage moveset. Despite his beastial nature, Blanka is jovial, which has endeared him to fans of Street Fighter. As explained in a recent Capcom Unity post, Blanka now lives a peaceful life with his mother and is adapting well to society. Things take an interesting turn for the fighter when a salesman pays him a visit with an offer to mass produce dolls in Blanka’s image.
Since this is Street Fighter V, Blanka now has access to a new V-Skill, V-Triggers, and Critical Art attack. Each of these new moves also taps into the character’s ferocious nature. Long-time Blanka players will surely enjoy incorporating these new moves into their repertoire. Those going up against Blanka users will also want to make note of these moves. They certainly look punishing.
Players can obtain Blanka starting on February 20 for $5.99 or with 100,000 Fight Money. He is also part of the Season 3 Character Pass which goes for $29.99. This particular season pass unlocks Sakura, Falke, Cody, G, and Sagat as they become available. Purchasing Blanka either through the season pass or separately also nets players his Battle Costume, which comes with colors 3-10 and his default costume with colors 3-10. There is also the oddball Story Costume and the awesome Nostalgia costume.
